Excavator buckets

The right bucket decides how many cubic metres you move per hour and how often you have to replace it. SAES International supplies excavator buckets for machines from 0.6 to 85 tonnes, from mini excavator to heavy tracked machine, with hitches from CW00 to CW55. Every bucket is built by our long-standing production partner and inspected in our own workshop before delivery.

Which bucket suits your work?

Digging bucket: volume and depth

A digging bucket is narrower and deeper than a ditching bucket, so it shifts large volumes of soil, sand, clay and rock in a single pass. The SAES range runs from 37 litres for machines from 0.6 tonnes up to 5,600 litres in the heaviest class, with cutting edges from 100x20 mm to 500x70 mm. Where cycle count decides the job, capacity is the main choice, but check it against the maximum load rating of your machine.

Ditching and ditch cleaning buckets

The ditching bucket has a wide opening and a low-set hitch, so little breakout force is lost. The construction keeps the bucket's own weight down, which counts directly towards what the machine can still lift. Widths run from 700 to 3,000 mm.

For cleaning out narrow ditches, the ditch cleaning bucket is the better choice. It is derived from the ditching bucket but has a smaller opening and less curvature, giving a compact turning movement. Holes in the side panels drain the water away.

Riddle bucket: rubble out, soil through

The riddle bucket, also known as a skeleton bucket, has gaps between the tines. Rubble and stone stay in the bucket while sand and soil fall through, which saves a sorting pass in demolition work, road breaking and paving. The range runs from 45 litres for machines from 1 tonne up to the heavy-duty and rock versions for machines up to 56 tonnes, with cutting edges up to 450x60 mm.

Clay bucket: narrow trenches without sticking

The curved shape of a clay bucket lets it empty on its own, so clay sticks less. The straight model is the standard version. The tapered model is narrower at the cutting edge and wider at the hitch, which stops trench walls collapsing when digging deep. Clay buckets are available for machines from 0.8 to 21 tonnes.

CW00 to CW55, and if you are unsure about the hitch

All buckets are available in CW00, CW10, CW20, CW30, CW40, CW45 and CW55. The hitch follows from the weight class of your machine, but where two classes overlap more than one combination is possible. Send us the make, model and weight of your excavator and we will work out the right bucket, width and hitch.
