Scrap shears and concrete shears for excavators

At scrap processing sites, incoming scrap must be cut down to the sizes steel mills accept for melting. In industrial demolition, IPE and HEA profiles, tubular sections, plates and cables must be cut in a single stroke. A hydraulic scrap shear is the designated attachment for both.

SAES is the official dealer and service partner of LaBounty, the originator of the modern scrap shear, and of VTN. Together they cover excavators from 3 to over 150 tonnes, rigid or with 360-degree rotation, boom- or stick-mounted.

Scrap shear, steel shear or mobile shear: what's the difference?

In practice the terms are used interchangeably: scrap shear, steel shear, mobile shear and metal shear all describe the same attachment type. The distinction that matters is the configuration: rigid or rotating, boom or stick mount, and cutting force relative to carrier weight. Stick-mounted, the shear gains reach and freedom of movement around obstacles; boom-mounted, a heavier shear model fits the same excavator.

LaBounty scrap shears: MSD Saber and MSD Legend

The LaBounty MSD Saber suits excavators from 3 to 21 tonnes and from 70 to over 150 tonnes, designed for cutting scrap, tanks, plates and cables. The MSD Legend, for excavators from 20 to 85 tonnes, delivers 10% more cutting force and reduces cycle time by 30% through its integrated Speed Valve, measurably increasing daily throughput at the same hydraulic power. Both series feature the patented reversible nose blade; on the Legend, the double nose blade reverses four times, quadrupling blade life before replacement. The InSight system reads operational sensor data online. See the LaBounty scrap shears and MSD Legend pages for model specifications.

VTN steel shear CI-R and multi shear SC

For a more compact or multifunctional solution, SAES carries the VTN steel shear CI-R and the VTN multi shear SC series, which combines cutting and pulverizing in a single attachment for mixed demolition projects.

Need a concrete shear for cutting reinforced concrete?

Looking for a hydraulic shear for reinforced concrete rather than steel? The Epiroc CC or VTN PD-1 with interchangeable jaws for cutting and pulverizing are the right tool.

Blades, service and maintenance

A shear's production stands or falls with sharp blades and correct clearance. SAES stocks scrap shear blades and handles blade reversal and replacement, clearance checks and periodic maintenance in its own workshop or on site.

Rent a shear or buy used

For project-based deployment, SAES rents shears from its own fleet, and a changing stock of used scrap shears is available, inspected and fitted with new blades where needed.
